Welcome to the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen

Established in 1982, in Birmingham (UK) the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen is a small friendly Association offering traditional Hong Kong Wing Chun as taught directly to Chief Instructor, Sifu Shaun Rawcliffe in Hong Kong by Wing Chun's Grandmaster Ip Chun, eldest son and senior student of the late Grandmaster Ip Man.

The Midlands Wing Chun Kuen (MWCK), with 8 Regional Headquarters around the UK and 1 Headquarter in Northern Italy, is run by a dedicated group of very experienced senior MWCK instructors and is the ideal organisation for learning one of the most practical and dynamic street self defence martial arts.

There are currently 16 MWCK training centres around the UK with a further 6 centres located around Piacenza in Northern Italy. Each school is run by either a senior MWCK instructor or by an Instructor directly certified by them and is committed to maintaining the ethics and standards of the MWCK.

ALL MWCK Instructors are highly qualified, certified individuals with many years experience and hold both Instructor insurance and professional Indemnity insurance. All MWCK Instructors are registered members of the Ip Chun Wing Chun Kuen Martial Arts Association (Hong Kong) and Wing Chun Ip Chun Academy (Hong Kong) as well as the MWCK itself. ALL UK MWCK Instructors are registered members of the British Council for Chinese martial Arts (BCCMA).

ALL members of the MWCK are registered with and hold member to member insurance through the British Council for Chinese martial Arts (BCCMA).

Wing Chun is about learning to discipline both the mind and the body and at the MWCK we include holistic elements within our teaching to develop students mentally as well as physically. The Midlands Wing Chun Kuen Association Offers:

¤ Authentic Hong Kong Wing Chun Kuen taught in a traditional, holistic manner, offering safe enjoyable training in this Wing Chun Kuen which successfully combines a highly practical and effective street self protection training with health and fitness to help ward off injury.

¤ The complete, undiluted Wing Chun system taught systematically within an informal training environment, allowing individuals to progress at their own pace and explore their own individuality.

¤ Special weekend seminars covering all aspects of Wing Chun self defence, accupressure, psychology and Positive Mental Attitude methodology.

¤ The opportunity to meet and train with other Wing Chun Sifu's at closed door seminars arranged specifically for The Midlands Wing Chun Kuen.

¤ Group training trips to Hong Kong and Foshan, China, to train with Ip Chun Si-fu and meet many other Wing Chun and Kung Fu Sifu's.

¤ Open courses and seminars to both Wing Chun and non Wing Chun groups abroad and in the UK.

¤ The opportunity to train and socialise in a friendly, open atmosphere.

About the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen Association Chief Instructor

Chief Instructor, Sifu Shaun Rawcliffe is one of only eighteen Wing Chun Instructors in the world (one of only three in the UK), directly certified as an Instructor and representative by Wing Chun's Grandmaster, Ip Chun. He is registered with and certified as an instructor by:
