Alberto Riccardi
Alberto began studying Thai Boxing
in 1983, running his own camp in Northern Italy for several years. He began
training Wing Chun in 1988 and qualified as an instructor in 1994. In February
1995 Alberto read an interview with Wing Chun's Grandmaster Ip Chun. In the
interview Master Ip Chun spoke of one of his senior students as his 'son' and
said that Sifu Rawcliffe was the Masters' most senior western student, who now
taught Wing Chun in Birmingham (UK), representing Master Ip Chun, maintaining
the Wing Chun as taught by the Master and by his father Yip Man. Albertoi
decided to visit Sifu Rawcliffe at his Midlands Wing Chun Kuen headquarters in
Birmingham in April 1995 and has studied Wing Chun privately with Sifu
Rawcliffe ever since.
Having started training and
relearning the Wing Chun system again from the beginning, Alberto qualified as
an Instructor for the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen in July 1997. Sifu Alberto
Riccardi now teaches Wing Chun in Italy as the Italia Wing Chun Kuen (a
representative branch of Sifu Rawcliffe's Midlands Wing Chun Kuen Association)
and the only representative of Ip Chun Wing Chun in Italy. Alberto is the Chief
Instructor of the Italia Wing Chun and oversees 7 instructors around Italy.
Alberto has accompanied his
teacher to Hong Kong on one of the MWCK training trips, where he trained every
day at the Ving Tsun Athletic Association with his Si-Kung and several evenings
at either the City University of Hong Kong run by his Sifu's senior Kung Fu
brothers, or at the Saturday evening Sha-Tin class run by his Si-Kung.
Alberto is a certified instructor
with the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen, the Ving Tsun Athletic Association in Hong
Kong; the Yip Man Martial Arts Athletic Association (Hong Kong) and a member of
the a member of the Wing Chun Ip Chun Academy in Hong Kong . For more
