Tariq Mahmood (Haji)
Having studied various martial
arts for 8 years, Haji began studying Wing Chun in 1994, qualifying as an
instructor in 1997. Following a lengthy telephone conversation, Haji decided to
visit Sifu Rawcliffe, at his Midlands Wing Chun Kuen headquarters in
Birmingham, in June 2001 to relearn his Wing Chun. He has studied Wing Chun,
both privately and at classes, with Sifu Rawcliffe ever since.
Haji started training and
relearning the Wing Chun system again from the beginning and has now qualified
as an Instructor for the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen. Haji runs a small, invitation
only class in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. In keeping with the philosophy of the
Midlands Wing Chun Kuen, the Rotherham school will be kept reasonably small and
family-like and run on an invitation only basis, representing Sifu Rawcliffe,
the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen and thereby, Master Ip Chun.
Haji has accompanied Sifu
Rawcliffe to Hong Kong several times to train and was a member of the MWCK
group representing the MWCK at the 2nd World Conference in Hong Kong in
November 2005.
Haji is a level 2 coach through
the BCCMA, he holds an instructors certificate from the Ving Tsun
AthleticAssociation (Hong Kong) and a member of the Wing Chun Ip Chun Academy
